LITHOPHANES & LASER ITEMS
Lithophanes are 3D prints that vary the thickness of the print to match a photograph. The lighter the area of the photo, the thinner the print so that more light gets through. When illuminated from behind, the lithophane shows a monochromatic picture. The picture quality depends to a great extent on the quality of the photo used. This is especially important for the lampshades as they are so much bigger. A copy of your digital photo will be adjusted for the lithophane by reducing to black and white, and adjusting the contrast.
3D printing is a slow process, lithophanes take from several hours to several days to print. A tall lampshade can take 4 1/2 days so please allow plenty of time!
LITHOPHANE LAMPSHADES
Litho Lamp
Lithophane Lampshades are made from your digital photos, 3D printed in such a way that the images show through when the light is on. 3 to 4 photos can be incorporated into each lamp. Portrait (upright) photos work best, but square ones, or photos that can be cropped square also work. Email your photos to the address below and I will tell you whether they will be OK. (They don't have to be cats!)

Finished lampshades will be between 155mm and 225 mm tall, depending on the size and orientation of the photos used., 200mm diameter base, 175mm top. They will fit standard bulb holders which have a diameter of 30mm (UK bayonet type) or 40mm (screw fit bulbs) where the lamp sits. Let me know which yours are.

Lampshades take 3 to 4.5 days to print and I only have one machine able to make them, so be prepared to wait! I'll let you know how soon they will be ready. Can be printed in white or grey. The gray ones look better when lit - more depth to the pictures, but off they look well, grey. The white ones look OK when off.
CURVED LITHOPHANES

 Curved Lithophanes are made from your own photo, 3D printed and placed in a stand with an LED battery light. They will be 150mm x 100mm. Stand and battery box supplied. Curved Lithophanes are priced at £12.50 each

WINDOW HANGING LITHOPHANES

 Window Hanging Lithophanes are made from your own  photo, 3D printed flat with a hole in the corners to run a thread through so you can hang it in a window and let the sun illuminate it. They look great in bright sunlight. Window Hanging Lithophanes are 150 x 100mm and are priced at £5 each

Am developing Boxes to take the flat lithos. These will have the batteries inside and a switch to operate them. Probable price a touch more than the curved lithos. More details as soon as available.
